SOCIAL INEQUALITY

Social inequality play’s out in and around us all the time, all across the entire globe.

For the most part most of the populous is immune to its presence, no matter how much its thrusted in front of you daily.

Since moving to a new city where homelessness is not only the highest in the country and drug use is dividing the city. I witness the world in this space living day by day being immune to the undeniable fact that the injustice at play will perpetuate until more humility is brought back into our entire global society not just the city i reside in.

Where humility and compassion is given, rather than persecution and segregation or those with vs those without.

The story of the haves vs the have nots has been around as long as humans have been able to segregate, and its well overdue to become negated.

This morning from my meditation space as i looked out onto the street below i witnesses this man carrying his blanket walk into the building behind seeking refuge. He no sooner walked in was ushered out…

This place happens to be a cathedral, a place of sanctum that is taught behind its four walls. To love thy neighbour no matter the race, colour or creed. This man is homeless and for what ever reason he felt drawn to enter that building this morning he was discriminated against because he was dirty, scruffy and carrying his home with him. His very blanket that keeps him warm within the harsh winter elements of this city.

This isn’t the first time i have seen first hand injustice, its a daily occurrence. Walking only two blocks within the city limits to see affluent cars, homes and businesses then turn into drug rings, crime and homelessness. All the while the people pretend its not their, and when they do see it turn a bind eye to the most human need.

Contact, connection and care.

Who is anyone to pass judgement on another without fully knowing the circumstances and extenuating events that brought parts of our community to feel their only choice is the one where the majority shun them away as seeing them as a hinderance.

No one is ever a hinderance in life, we are all here to learn and grown, to contribute and be loved in equal measure to love and be witnessed in celebration as a valuable member of the community regardless of the path less chosen.

This isnt the first time since moving to a new country and new city i am witnessing life through a entirely new lens, a lens of hope. What can i do to make my home a better place to live, and how can i be a better human being to those in whom are down on their luck.

Their lives matter too..

My success to me is measured more on what i actively do daily to make my community, my planet and future generations to come a more accepting, loving, compassion, equally thriving space for all.

Not simply for just some.

This past week, i witnesses someone dying in the street from drug overdose. I have see the implications of what man made ego drives people to falsely believe.

A couple of blocks from my home is a gigantic mural of Greta Thunberg. I have admiration for her capacity to challenge the status quo.

True voice in clarity is gifted to those in whom are prepared to challenge the norm for healthful change. Regardless if you support Greta or not, her voice alone commanded people to look at our entire existence upon earth across all sectors and industries around how we consume, interact and survive.

I add survive, not thrive.

We all have the ability to cultivate change, if a young women can command political figures and leaders to create change. You can create change within your own existence daily.

Well before coming to my new city i had begun a non profit foundation for youth. To break cycles and bring something entirely unique that was not being offered at all to youth in this city.

It is much harder to heal childhood wounds in Adults than be willing and committed to break the chain of trauma and ensure future generations don’t carry the burdens, ignorance, conditioning and greed of the generations before them.

We make time for what we see value in,
We make mountains move for the things we believe in.
We advocate and champion the parts of life that make us feel good.

But what about the parts that make us feel uncomfortable?

Do we ignore them hoping they will disappear? No, we must not. We must look to the aspects of our community to find solutions. We are all responsible of the quality of life we live cohesively together.

So the next time you see someone that you perceive is less than you, remember you are no better.
To turn a blind eye doesn’t make you a better human being, nor does being a martyr about it.

Genuine legacies are built on the foundation of transparency, rather than finding another planet to call home in space exploration. Maybe we all should do our part in caring for the one we have now, including all its inhabitants.

This means humans too.
Those that are in a place of sufferance. Its never too late to create change, especially in how we treat each other regardless of who we are in the community.

I invite you to check in within yourself and self discern where are you judging others falsely?

Where could you be far more compassionate to those in need within your community?

What could you do to actively change the relationship you have to our planet today, so she is here for you tomorrow and ever other day to come for your children and children’s children?

Greta lead the world in openly discussing some of the worlds most critical topics of our modern day challenges it takes a single voice for ripples of change.

What will your voce say about you and the life you lead, not when you die yet whilst you are alive on this earth!

Food for thought,

Gratitude
